MOVE YOUR MONEY, CONTROL YOUR POWER

http://moveyourmoneyproject.org/

With the Occupy Wallstreet Movement well underway it's rather unfortunate that these two great ideas with so much potential are, chronologically, almost two years away from each other.

A greatly inspiring video. I recommend that everyone watches it.

The Move Your Money Project was started by Arianna Huffington of Huffington Post (see the article) during a pre-Christmas dinner in 2009. What emerged was an inspirational, yet somewhat unpopular cyber-movement.

Frankly.... I don't know how many people actually went out and switched banks.
Hell, I only heard about this thing a few days ago.... ^_^  (hehe) ...  this may go to show how far reaching the movement actually was.

However, according to news reports, the movement numbered in the thousands. Rather similar to the Occupy Wall street movements, just without much of the protesting and world-wide impact. However, with that said, bringing a very effective strategy at causing harm to a system that has wronged so many.

Well, okay then. Fine. Thousands is good. It's better than hundreds. And rallying hundreds to do anything is an arduous task all on it's own.
But that can't possibly be enough to affect the 5 largest U.S. banks can it?

Well judging based on the assets these monstrously big corporations hold (chart & chart), it doesn't seem that even a hundred thousand people will make too much of an impact on their luscious, green reservoirs of cash .

As sad and unlikely as it seems, the matter calls for literally millions of people (probably simultaneously) withdrawing their money and switching to community or union banks.  Which is probably not going to happen - atleast not anytime soon and/or not all at once.

Such a process is a slow and steady one; and, much like all other past movements, the "consumer-capital movement" will be years if not decades long.

So should people do nothing about it? Should they pass this opportunity? Sit in silence and wait for a larger, more organized movement?

You absolutely should! - if you can wait for eternity.

Corporate greed can have hazardous effects. Learn how to protect yourself from the stupidity and malice of others.

As the cliche goes: there is no time like the present. And in the present we have the largest protest against corporate greed in the history of the U.S.A.

Are you REALLY going to wait any longer to begin standing up for yourself and YOUR money???

You may not be at wall street or anywhere close to a huge financial sector in order to protest it, but I'm sure you've got community banks that need your real, physical, monetary support.

You wait long enough: and soon they won't be there.

Crushed.

Under the weight of those fat monsters gobbling up your cash like Halloween candy. ^_^

Get your friends and relatives to switch with you! Plan it! Clusters of 5-15 people leaving banks not only draws attention but helps the community banks your switching into.

Remember that this isn't about getting the big banks attention and crawling back when they throw you a bone: you are switching for good - forever.

The two movements: OccupyUSA and MoveYourMoney.

Separated in time, united through cause.

The one and only power you still have as a citizen and human is to say NO!

USE IT!

OWN IT!

Control your money and you will control your power - control your power and you will control your life.

I hope in time this movement forms strong, symbiotic bonds with #Occupy and the two become one and the same. Besides forming a responsible and ethical political party, this is another very effective method of destroying the system that abuses you.

On that note, here is a funny infomercial from Bill Maher on this very topic:

Fuck the Police, Occupy Everything !!!

The title idea came from a good friend of mine ^_^

But seriously, the police of New York city and all around the world act like despicable brutal thugs with no concern for the liberty and dignity of others.

....so yes, in other words, they act like the police.

These guys must really love their batting practise.

But then again, should we be surprised in the least at the behaviors of "authoritative forces" (not only the police but all physically abusive powers: CIA, FBI, Military, ect.)?

After all, the long parroted slogan "to serve and protect", as cliche as it has become, does not specify whom it is applied to...

You can cry out any hateful or joyous expressions to their face; you can tell them to: "fuck off", call them "pigs", inform them that "you/we pay your taxes"; alternatively, you can encourage them to "join the 99%", call them your "brothers and sisters", hell, you can stick some hippy sunflowers down their gun barrels while your at it...(don't try that)

Despite all your best efforts to hate them or love and justify them, the fact of the matter is the police DO NOT exist to protect YOU.

They protect what they are told to protect: it's called "the system".

Deputy Inspector Raymond Bologna, pepper spraying protesters without cause - clearly the grumpy, old asshole of his department.

Now don't be alarmed (if you already are). They will defend your rights, and protect your home, and charge your oppressors - that is, if your oppressors are not the system itself.

However, if you are out to bend or break the status quo, like the occupy wall street movement, you can be sure to expect a very different quality of treatment than your tax dollars payed for.

People who align themselves in opposition to what a rational individual would see as an unfair and debilitating socio-economic system are made a demon and criminal of the state.

As a result you have the state of affairs that is the occupy movements all around the globe: truly brave individuals (and you have to be brave stand up to armed and armored thugs who have every legal right and power over you, whereas you have absolutely none over them) stand up and stand out in protest and defiance of the physically and economically dominating  power structures DEEPLY embedded in western infrastructure.

In other words: shit is fucked up and people are sick of it.

But what now?

Well, the movement is still brand spanking new, however it is fairly obvious ( with all the political and governmental opposition being aimed towards it ) that it's not gonna last as long as the protesters have hoped for; or, as long as the ruling class is afraid it will last for.

A few websites and online groups have been created as well as the creation of The Occupied Wall Street Journal, but is that enough?

Well of course not! Not in the least.

In fact if this display of sustained public dissent is the extent of the power of this movement then it might as well have not existed altogether ( yeah, I said it ). What it's done so far is what many "libby" fringe movements have accomplished: safely forging communities for themselves in the deep, dark depths of the net, away from the castigating light of day; and then, crawling out of those marginalized holes in order to, all too briefly, criticize the powers that be just to return to the murky sewers from whence they came.

Now the occupy movements don't look like they will be returning anywhere anytime soon BUT! the thing is: they will.... yes, they will... and then what? nothing?! a distant, hazy memory?! this "thing" that almost happened but didn't?

This movement is FAR bigger than that and deserves MUCH MORE than some shitty columns in the archives of the NY Times or even on this shitty blog.

Occupy Wall Street is the Woodstock of the new millennium. But instead of drugs, sex and rock n' roll (yes, yes the hippy movement was more than just that) it offers us something far more pressing in todays age: Liberty, Justice and the Pursuit of Happiness. (...saaay, what happened to all of those anyway? ...oh yeah! $$$$$....)

These are the three key qualities that many forces within political and corporate circles wish to slowly and noticeably remove from everyone of us and the three qualities, that inexcusably belong to every human being on this earth, that this movement is fighting for.

The only way they are going to get the changes they seek is if they realize they won't get a damn thing unless they get even more organized, focused and form into an actual political group themselves.

Thats right, without a NEW and ACTUALLY LIBERAL political party being formed, unlike the conservative Democrats that are in power, this movement and any inspiration it has fostered in the minds of the people will quickly deteriorate.

I greatly hope the people of Occupy Wall Street and Occupy America ( and even all around the world) realize the immense collective power that resides in each one of their hearts and minds, and together fuse into an ever more powerful agent of change.

The world needs it desperately.

Great struggles will reap great rewards.

Introduction

Hello, I think I should preface with an introductory post before I post my first actual blog piece.

I'm not going to go into specifics about who I am but I guess a brief description of the intentions of this blog is not a bad idea.

I'm interested in a number of things, those being: politics, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, gender/sexuality, science & technology, art and much more. And so, these are the kinds of topics I will be writing and forming ideas about.

This blog is just a collection of one person's opinions. I hope you may find them worthy or useful; if you do then I hope you may share them with others and together come to a mutual understanding of the affairs surrounding all our lives.

I am an "expert" in nothing and I do not purport to be. With that said, I do not believe that being an expert is the sole manner in which one may form an opinion on a matter - better yet, form a good one at that. I'm sure many of us have very valuable opinions to be expressed and we shouldn't let the lack of bought/payed off institutional credentials get in our way of doing so.

I will try to make updates at least once a week or more, in order to prevent any stagnation that may result due to inactivity. I will also participate, although very sparingly, in the comments/discussion section below when the flow of discourse calls for it.

I realize that my personality affects the style and over arching themes of this blog and as I write more articles I hope readers will get a better sense of the soul of this website and the general direction it's headed in. I may write with a number of different emotional dispositions - sometimes happy, sometimes pissed off, some times upset and sometimes raging with creativity and independent thought ( I hope more towards the latter).... or maybe just raging ^_^ ...

So again, my job here is to be an idea spreader; however, I can only spread them to the people who choose to read them. It's up to you to take those ideas further - to apply them in your own lives and the lives of others and come to a greater understanding of the world around you and each other.

Thanks for visiting! Peace and much Love to all (even Republicans)!
